On 09, Apr 2021 | In Uncategorized | By Bill

The GIA business involves the development of enterprise agreements. These are contracts between parties to conduct activities leading to an agreed biosecurity outcome, which improves preparedness and/or response. They are negotiated by the parties concerned and are binding on those parties. They are committed to biosecurity outcomes that actually exceed minimum obligations and can be distributed by the parties. The GIA secretariat can facilitate the negotiation and development of an operational agreement and facilitate the ongoing commitment to support the implementation of the results of operational agreements. The Biosecurity Act of 1993 was amended in 2012 and provides a framework that allows government and industry to work in partnership with GIA to achieve the best possible results from preparedness or response activities: industrial signatories have a formal role, with the Ministry of Primary Industries, in decisions related to biosecurity response activities.
